Scenarios - ACW
Ready to Play Scenarios.
The following scenarios include everything required
to play except dice and measuring devises. Standard
6 sided dice and a normal ruler will do nicely.
A short copy of BROWN WATER NAVIES rules,
standard version and a quick play version, 10 Event
cards, @8 ship cards and a description of the battle
are included. These are a great way to learn history,
naval tactics, or try a new game system without
spending a lot of money. All scenarios are set up to
be close to history. Several scenarios only have the
historical vessels. Most scenarios are based on what
should have or could have happened. All scenarios
are set up to be balanced. When southern
casemates are able to meet northern monitors
one-on-one it's an even battle.
The ship cards can be replace with lead models.
For Teachers and Students
CSS Chicora is proud to offer scenarios which can be used to
instruct students. They were supervised by a teacher with 19 years
of classroom experience.
The scenarios provide excellent hands-on education for students.
The rules are based on the actual morales, armor, arms and
training for that time period. Instead of just reading what a Roman
Legionary could do the student can see why. Student will learn
just because you hit something it doesn’t mean damage was done.
Currently only scenarios for the War for Southern Independence
(American Civil War to Yankees) are available. Others are currently
being tested and will be released when ready. Areas under
construction are: World War II using the acclaimed ARMED
WARFARE system. WWII and WWI aircrafts for the DOGFIGHT
system. BLUE WATER NAVIES is the base for WWII and WWI
naval scenarios. SAILS covers the 1500s and 1600s.
FIELD of VALOR will be utilized for the single infantry games.
Scenarios will have historical rematches and plenty of What IF?
Such as how would a group of Celtic warriors match up with a
band of American Indians?
Each scenario includes two rules. First is the set that goes into
details. The second is an Easy-To-Play version. Students can
learn the easy version in minutes. Then when they are ready they
can try the more detailed version.
The scenarios are designed for a 2x2 foot table. Everything
required for the game is provided except for the 6 sided dice and
rulers. The dice are the generic kind available almost everywhere.
Any measuring device will suffice. Measurements are given in the
American system. Conversion to meters is easy, simply triple all
distances. 25mm to an inch is the correct rate. Most pages can be
printed on ordinary home printers on standard paper. The cards
should be printed on standard ten count business card stock
available at most office supply stores. If they are not available print
on paper and either glue onto cardboard or use the paper and
print another set the next time you want to play. Terrain, ex. trees,
are not included but do add a nice aesthetic effect. Players may
add as they wish.
As they play the game, students should pay attention to the armor
and arms of the warriors. The ability to equip their soldiers and
sailors shows how advanced the nation was. A Roman legionary
wore equipment made in many parts of the empire. Ships were
built with the best material available. Every nation has flown its
ensign with pride.
The scenarios are a chance for students to have some fun while
learning history.
Each scenario is $7.95. They will be sent via email as a PDF
attachment. They are @8meg each. Be sure your carrier and
mail box can handle that much.
